Recently, I had the honor of speaking at a Women in Business Inc. luncheon about a topic that is reshaping how businesses operate today: artificial intelligence and how entrepreneurs can grow their impact using AI. The event brought together local business leaders, creatives, and entrepreneurs who face a common challenge: how to embrace new technology while staying true to their brand and mission.
During the session, we explored how AI can support businesses by increasing efficiency, enhancing creativity, and unlocking new opportunities for growth. For small business owners, this means finding ways to do more with less and staying competitive in a rapidly changing market.

Why AI Matters for Small Businesses
Artificial intelligence is no longer just for large tech companies. Today, AI tools are accessible and practical for small business owners. These tools help entrepreneurs:
Write marketing content quickly and clearly
Automate repetitive tasks that take up valuable time
Respond to customer inquiries promptly, even outside business hours
Generate visuals and design assets without hiring a designer
Manage and organize business operations more efficiently
For many small businesses, AI acts like a team of virtual employees, helping owners accomplish more without adding overhead. This creates space to focus on what matters most: building relationships and delivering value to customers.
Three Ways Entrepreneurs Can Start Using AI Today
1. Smarter Marketing Content
Creating consistent marketing content can be time-consuming. AI tools can generate blog posts, newsletters, social media captions, and marketing ideas in minutes. For example, a local boutique owner can use AI to draft weekly emails that highlight new products and upcoming sales, freeing up time to engage with customers in person.
2. Automated Customer Engagement
AI-powered assistants can handle customer questions, qualify leads, and schedule appointments around the clock. Imagine a small wellness studio that uses an AI chatbot to answer common questions about class schedules and book sessions automatically. This keeps customers happy and reduces the workload on staff.

3. Faster Creative Development
From designing logos to writing website copy, AI tools speed up the creative process. A freelance graphic designer, for example, can use AI to generate initial design concepts and then customize them, saving hours on brainstorming and drafts. This allows entrepreneurs to focus on strategy and client relationships rather than starting from scratch.
The Most Important Skill in the AI Era
While AI tools offer many benefits, the most important skill for entrepreneurs is learning how to work alongside AI employees effectively. This means understanding what tasks AI can handle well and where human insight is essential. For instance, AI can draft a newsletter, but the entrepreneur’s voice and personal touch make it resonate with the audience.
Building this skill requires curiosity, experimentation, and a willingness to adapt. Small business owners who develop this mindset will find AI a valuable partner in growing their business.

A Personal Reflection As the founder of New England Media & Marketing.
I’m passionate about helping businesses tell their story and connect with their communities. AI is becoming one of the most exciting tools available to entrepreneurs today — but at the center of every successful business will always remain human creativity, connection, and purpose.
Speaking with the Women in Business community reminded me how important it is for business owners to share knowledge and support each other as we navigate the future together.
